Coal mining child labour. Child drivers and a pony in a coal mine. Photographed in West Virginia, USA, by Lewis Wickes Hine (1874-1940), in October 1908. Hine was a photographer who made a career out of documenting social history. Child labour was still used in the USA in the early decades of the 20th century.
