Car and bike advert. Early 20th century advert for cars and bikes manufactured by the French Hurtu company. A postman is shown delivering letters to people in a passing car, with a more traditional form of transport seen in the background. The first internal combustion engine cars were developed in the 1880s. The earliest bicycles were invented at the beginning of the 19th century, but the 'Golden Age' of bicycles was the 1890s following the introduction of pneumatic tyres and brakes.
