The Renault family with their cars. Renault family and their first cars. At right is the first car produced by Louis Renault (1877-1944), the Renault Voiturette (built 1898). At centre, the cover has been removed to show the engine. The early Renault cars used De Dion-Bouton engines. The founders of the Renault automobile manufacturing company were Louis, with his brothers Marcel, and Fernand, along with Thomas Evert. The Renault family consisted of the three brothers, plus two sisters. Photographed in France in 1899.
