Tissandier electric airship. Albert Tissandier (1839-1906, left), his brother Gaston Tissandier (1843-1899, right) and an unidentified man, in the basket of their airship, demonstrating an electric navigational system featuring a propeller. This airship launched from Auteuil, Paris, France, on 8 October 1883, in what was the first-ever electrically powered flight.
