Supermarine Napier S4 seaplane. The Supermarine Napier S4 is most famous for raising the world's seaplane speed record to about 227 miles per hour in 1925. These seaplanes were called Napiers as they contained an engine known as the Napier Lion, the most powerful engine in the world in the 1920's and 1930's. Photographed in 1926.
