Titanic lifeboats. Two lifeboats carrying survivors from the sinking of the Titanic. The Titanic, the largest ocean liner ever built at the time, was reputed to be unsinkable. However, during its maiden voyage it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic on the night of the 14 April 1912 and sank. The ship sank in 3 hours with the loss of 1503 lives. Carpathia, after it heard Titanic's distress call.
