Page from a 12th century manuscript in Greek of Euclid's book "Elements". This book, first compiled around 260BC, has been through more than one thousand editions since the inventing of printing, making this the most successful textbook of all time. Major achievements in this book include proofs of the Pythagoras theorem, that the number of primes is infinite and that the square root of two is an irrational number. Axioms included in the work include "The whole is equal to the sum of the parts and "The shortest distance between two points is a straight line".
