Caption

Running man. Series of photographs taken by Eadweard Muybridge showing a nude man running. In the second half of the 19th century, Muybridge pioneered the use of multiple cameras to study locomotion. He began this career to answer the pressing question of whether or not a galloping horse has all four feet off the ground at times. His high-speed multiple camera techniques proved that it does.
