Artist drawing a nude. This woodcut was made by the German artist Albrecht Durer (1471-1528). His skillful use of perspective and mathematical proportions made him one of the outstanding artistic figures of the early 16th century. The technique shown here demonstrates a grid device which he designed to accurately map the perspective and proportions of his subject. Taken from The Complete Woodcuts of Albrecht Durer by Willi Kurth (1936).
