Phytomonas protozoan (Phytomonas sp.), coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). The Phytomonas protozoa are plant parasites, especially of the euphorbia plants and coffee plants. They are transmitted by sap-sucking invertebrates such as insects. This is a flagellated protozoan, having a flagellum (lower right) attached to its cell body (upper left) The flagellum is used to aid movement. Magnification: x2350 when printed 10cm high.
