Caption

White-eyed fruit fly. Drosophila sp. Many genes can affect Drosophila sp. eye pigments. Some of these cause the absence of the normal brown pigment and appear red (e.g. vermillion). Others lacked bright red pigment, and appeared ruby or brown, while others, like this one, may lack both pigments, and are devoid of colour (e.g. white).
