Female mosquito, Aedes aegypti, the yellow fever vector & also the vector of the microfilarial larvae of Brugia pahangi, the nematode worm causing elephantiasis. Here, a single microfilarial larva can be seen emerging from the burst tip of the labium (sheath), which has become detached from the deeply penetrating fascicle. Mag. X 18 (35mm).
