Mosquito feeding. Macrophotograph of a yellow fever mosquito (Aedes aegypti) feeding on a human. Only the female feeds on blood, using her proboscis (not clearly seen) to penetrate the skin. In doing so she may transmit several diseases to humans, including yellow fever, filariasis and dengue fever. A. aegypti is found throughout the tropics. Magnification unknown.
