Macrophotograph of cells of a wasp's nest, Vespula sp. (probably vulgaris). This nest was made by workers at the end of the season (September) & therefore is empty or inhabited by corpses. The nest is a paper nest, constructed from chewed wood pulp which the wasp obtains by scraping objects such as trees & fenceposts with its jaws. Magnif- ication: X 0.4 at 35mm size.
