Caption

Caterpillars feeding. Macrophotograph of sawfly caterpillars Tenthredes sp., feeding in unison on a leaf. As if standing on their heads, four caterpillars feed at the edge of a leaf and assume the same posture with their "tails" in the air. Tenthredes larvae live in groups, often becoming active only at dusk or at night. The sawfly which metamorphoses from these caterpillars is in the order: Hymenoptera, related to bees, wasps and ants.
