Paper wasps on their nest. The nest is constructed of paper and has been built on the trunk of a rainforest tree. The wasps gather fibres from wood and other plant materials. These are chewed, mixed with saliva and regurgitated to use as a construction material. Photographed in the Amazon rainforest, Ecuador.
