Corpse of an ant killed by a pathogenic fungus, with fruiting fungal body extending above the corpse, on a tree in lowland Amazon rain forest, east of Iquitos, Peru. Fungus manipulates the ant to climb above the forest floor before dying, in order to provide elevation better suited to dispersing spores.
