Bee, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Bees belong to the superfamily Apoidea and are closely related to wasps and ants. Its large compound eyes (orange) are clearly seen. Bees feed on the nectar and pollen produced by flowering plants. They are important pollinators of these plants, carrying pollen between them on their hairy bodies and back legs.
