Atlas moth. View of an atlas moth (Attacus atlas) resting on a leaf. The atlas moth is one of the largest of all the moths, with a wingspan approaching 30 centimetres in some females. They inhabit the tropical forests of southern Asia and the Indonesian islands. As with all moths of its family (Saturniidae), the adults have no mouthparts, and cannot eat, existing only to breed.
