Caption

Baltimore butterfly. Baltimore butterfly (Euphydryas pheaton) on an orange flower. This rare butterfly is native to the swamps of North America. It will feed on the nectar of plants such as the swamp thistle (Cirsium muticum) and the milkweed (family Asclepiadaceae). The caterpillars of this butterfly spin silken tents on swamp plants and will pass the winter within them.
