Caption

Cabbage looper. Macrophotograph of a cabbage looper (Trichoplusia ni) caterpillar, crawling on a cabbage leaf. This caterpillar crawls with a looping motion. It has three pairs of true legs positioned behind its head and 3 pairs of fleshy false legs (centre right) further down its abdomen. This arrangement produces the characteristic looping walk. The cabbage looper larva is a pest of a variety of plants, including the cabbage. Magnification: x1 at 35mm size.
