Corn earworm. Macrophotograph of a corn earworm caterpillar (Heliothis, or Helicoverpa, zea) in a maize cob. This caterpillar is a severe agricultural pest. It feeds mainly on maize (or corn, Zea mays), but also attacks tomatoes, cabbages and melons, amongst others. It is found throughout temperate and tropical regions of the world.
