Chalkhill blue butterfly (Polyommatus coridon) resting with wings shut. The Chalkhill blue can be seen across much of Europe, although populations are declining in some areas. The undersides of the wings (visible here) are mottled brown with dark spots, but the upper surfaces are pale blue. Photographed in Kent, England.
