Magpie moth (Abraxas grossulariata) camouflaged against a wall. This moth is found throughout North America and Europe. It uses camouflage to avoid predators such as birds. It also feigns death when touched and it uses its bright warning colours as a deterrent, which are recognised by birds as being poisonous.
