Horned sea stars or chocolate chip starfish, (Protoreaster nodosus) gathering to spawn. A blue sea star (Linckia laevigata) is also seen. The horned sea star is a large starfish with broad arm bases that can reach 30 centimetres in diameter. The blue sea star is a solitary animal, only obtaining its striking colour when mature.
