Pearl starfish, or orange marble sea star (Fromia monilis), on the seabed. This starfish is found in the tropical Indo-Pacific region. It feeds mainly on detritus. Like most starfish it has amazing powers of regeneration. A severed arm can be completely regrown, and occasionally the arm itself may develop into a whole new starfish. Photographed in the Egyptian Red Sea.
