Great white shark attack. Artwork of a great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) charging into an attack. The great white shark is the largest of the flesh-eating sharks, and is the one of the oceans' top predators. Specimens of over 7 metres long have been found, which can weigh three tons. It is found in tropical and sub-tropical seas, and is a voracious predator, eating large fish, turtles, dolphins, sea lions, seals and, given the option, humans. They are known to follow ships into shallow coastal waters, where they become a great danger to swimmers. Attacks on small boats have also been reported.
