Silky shark. The silky shark (Carcharhinus falciformis) lives in tropical waters around the world. It is an inhabitant of the open sea, and ventures as far as 500 metres below the surface. It feeds almost exclusively on fish. It may reach a length of over three metres. Photographed off the Bahamas.
