Shark attack. Artwork of a great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) attacking the legs of a bather. The great white is the largest of the flesh-eating sharks, and has attacked and killed humans on numerous occasions. It may reach a length of over seven metres and can swim at over 40 kilometres per hour. It inhabits warm waters throughout the world, feeding mainly on fish and seals.
