Harlequin ghost pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus) female body, seen in front of a crinoid, a marine invertebrate animal. This fish uses its cryptic colouration to help it avoid predators. It feeds on tiny shrimps and plankton, sucking them up through its tube-like mouth (not seen). It reaches lengths of around 5-10 centimetres. Photographed off Sipadan, Malaysia.
