Black marlin (Makaira indica) leaping out of the sea. The marlin grows up to 4.5 metres in length and can weigh up to 750 kilograms. It is found in surface waters of the Indo-Pacific region. The marlin feeds on fish, squid and octopuses. Although it is not endangered its numbers have been diminishing due to excessive and technically advanced game fishing. Photographed off Australia.
