Blackspotted sweetlips (Plectorhinchus gaterinus) by a sea fan, or gorgonian. This fish inhabits the tropical waters of the western Indian Ocean. It can reach a length of over 50 centimetres. During the day it generally congregates near coral ledges in shoals. By night it hunts crustaceans and molluscs from the seabed. Photographed in the Egyptian Red Sea.
