Threadfin shad (Dorosoma petenense) shoal. This fish lives in large groups in lakes, rivers and brackish estuaries in North and Central America. Only the adults can tolerate the higher salinity found in coastal bays. It may reach a length of around 20 centimetres, and feeds on floating plants and animals.
