Northern bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) schooling. These are large fish that can reach lengths of over 4.5 metres. They live in the open ocean, and are found throughout the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. They are very mobile, migrating long distances. They prey on other, smaller fish, as well as squid. This edible fish is of great importance to commercial fishing, but there are fears that it is being overfished. Photographed in the Mediterranean Sea, off Malta.
