Yellow snapper fish (Lutjanus apodus) sheltering underneath a sea plume (Pseudopterogorgia sp.). This fish inhabits tropical coastal regions in the Atlantic Ocean. In the west it is found from New England, USA, to Brazil. In the east it is found off the equatorial coasts of Africa. It feeds on fish, crustaceans, worms, shellfish and cephalopods (such as squid), and can reach a length of almost 70 centimetres. It is valued as a food fish.
