Caption

Turquoise-capped parrotfish (Scarus dimidiatus). The blue colour of this fish indicates that it is a male. Females are grey/yellow. This fish inhabits the coral reefs of the tropical western Pacific Ocean. It feeds mainly on algae, which it scrapes from rocks and corals using its beak-like mouth. It can reach a length of around 40 centimetres. Photographed in Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea.
