Caption

Mating frogs. Pine Barrens tree frogs (Hyla andersoni) mating in water. This position, with the male astride the female, is known as amplexus. This frog inhabits wetlands in the southern and eastern USA. Destruction of its habitat has led to a dramatic fall in its numbers. These frogs eat insects and other small invertebrates. They may reach a length of five centimetres. Photographed in Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA.
