Green frog. Head of a green frog (Rana clamitans melanota) emerging from duckweed in a pond. This is a common frog throughout its range in the western and northern USA and south-western Canada. It prefers marshes, lakes and slow-moving rivers. It hunts near to the shore, looking for spiders, insects, slugs and snails. Crayfish are also taken on occasion. Adults may reach a length of 10 centimetres.
