Bullfrog. North American bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) by the water's edge. This frog is found throughout North America in lakes, rivers and marshes. An adult may reach a length of almost 50 centimetres, making it the largest frog in North America. The bullfrog eats worms, snakes, insects, crustaceans and even other bullfrogs. They are known for the males' rumbling calls, which can be heard for over a kilometre. Males are territorial and defend their stretch of river or lake shore with considerable aggression.
