Common toad (Bufo bufo) sitting among plants. This toad is widespread in Europe. It lives in wet and vegetated areas. Like all frogs and toads it needs to be near water to keep its skin moist to obtain oxygen through it, as well as needing to spawn (reproduce) in water. It is active at twilight, foraging on land for crawling insects and other invertebrates.
