Frog prolapse. Female common frog (Rana temporaria) that has suffered a prolapse (visible as red tissue at left) during spawning. Prolapse is slipping of a body part from its normal position. In this case, tissue from the cloaca (reproductive and excretory tract) has prolapsed. This is a fairly common condition in frogs kept as pets. It is survivable if treated.
