Young common toad (Bufo bufo) on a leaf. This toad is found throughout Eurasia, inhabiting moist woodlands, grasslands and scrub. They must return to water to breed. The toad feeds on a wide variety of small animals, including insects, spiders, slugs, snails and even smaller toads. The common toad can reach almost ten centimetres in length, although males are smaller than females.
