European green toads (Bufo viridis) on mosses. This toad is found throughout Eurasia and parts of northern Africa. It is found in a range of habitats, including hilly and even mountainous areas, although it must return to water to breed. The green toad feeds mainly on small invertebrates such as insects and snails. It can reach a length of over ten centimetres, although the male (left) is a lot smaller than the female.
