Leopard frog. Head of a leopard frog (Rana pipiens) in water. This frog is found throughout North America. It eats a wide variety of prey, including terrestrial and aquatic insects and small vertebrates such as other frogs, mice and fish. An adult may reach a length of up to 13 centimetres. It inhabits woods and grassland near to rivers, swamps and lakes, but often strays far from water.
