Great Basin Spadefoot Toad tadpole (Scaphiopus intermontanus). This young tadpole has not yet begun to develop its legs. Spadefoot toads breed in ephemeral bodies of water and develop fully in 4 - 6 weeks. Range of this species of spadefoot is the intermountain region of western NA south to norhern AZ and extreme northwestern NM.
