Caption

Mating cane toads (Chaunus marinus). This mating position is called amplexus. The male toad (top) grasps the female while she lays her eggs. Simultaneously he fertilizes the eggs with his sperm. These toads are in amplexus on an oil platform in a forest clearing. This is a colonising species which increases dramatically in numbers when the forest is cleared. Photographed in Yasuni National Park, Amazon rainforest, Ecuador.
