Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) swimming. The green turtle lives in warm seas throughout the world. It usually stays close to coasts, feeding exclusively on aquatic plants. It can grow up to 1.5 metres in length and weigh up to 200 kilograms. The green turtle is entirely aquatic, apart from when the female returns to a beach to lay her eggs, almost always the beach where she was born. Photographed off Sipadan Island, Malaysia.
