Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) in shallow water. The green turtle can reach over 150 centimetres in length and weigh over 200 kilograms. It is exclusively herbivorous, feeding on aquatic plants such as the algae seen covering the rocks. Like all reptiles it breathes air, and the females lay their eggs on land. Apart from this, it is entirely aquatic. It inhabits tropical and subtropical coastal seas throughout the world. Photographed off the coast of Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean.
