Moorish gecko (Tarentola mauritanica). The moorish gecko is found mainly in coastal regions of the Mediterranean. It has prominent tubercules on its flattish body which is brownish-grey in colour. Its tail, which is roughly the same length of its body, can be easily shed if the gecko is attacked by a predator. The tail will regrow but usually not to the full length of the original. Adults may reach lengths of more than 15 centimetres from head to tail. This young specimen is only 4.5 centimetres long.
