Green anole (Anolis carolinensis) on the flowering head of a plant. This lizard inhabits forests and shrubbery in the south-eastern USA. It feeds on insects and spiders, and can reach a maximum length of around 20 centimetres. It can change colour, exhibiting a wide range of greens, browns and greys. The colour changes are thought to be linked to mood, temperature and health. It is easy to keep in captivity, and it is frequently kept as a pet.
